2023 Vancouver cruise ship schedule for TNS and taxi companies

Transportation Network Service (TNS) operators are reminded to review the terms and conditions (T&C) of their licence as the 2023 cruise ship season begins in Vancouver. All TNS licensees in Region 1 are to abide by the designated Geo-Fencing T&C (listed below), which prevents drivers from entering, or picking up passengers at Canada Place cruise ship terminal and, the adjacent block on cruise ship days. While subject to change, the cruise ship schedule, is listed below:

  • April 30
  • May 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 31
  • June 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30
  • July 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 30
  • August 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28
  • September 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 20, 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 30
  • October 1, 3, 6, 8

As cruise ships arrive and COVID-19 regulations continue to ease, taxi companies in the City of Vancouver including those previously approved for “Peak Period” operations should take note of the 2023 cruise ship dates and expect events such as the Celebration of Lights to take place.

The Board will continue its efforts to ensure that the 2023 cruise ship schedule is up to date, any future changes or amendments will be noted in the corresponding Weekly Bulletin.

Geo-fencing

TNSs operating in the City of Vancouver (in Region 1) must geo-fence off the areas listed below in (a) to (c) on cruise ship days to prevent drivers from picking up passengers: 
(a) Canada Place Way between Howe Street and Burrard Street; 
(b) Howe Street between Canada Place Way and Cordova Street; and,
(c) Burrard Street between Canada Place Way and Cordova Street.
The Board will post a link to the city’s cruise ship schedule, when available, in March or April of any year.
