This 2023 study investigates the impact of Covid on monthly trip volumes for taxis and Transportation Network Services (TNS) following from a previous study published in September 2021. It also looks at the consequences on operating costs and market share for both types of licensees, as well as impacts on broader economic factors relevant to the passenger transportation industry.
This investigation was conducted to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the BC passenger transportation industry during the first year of the pandemic, pursuant to section 27(3)(b) of the Passenger Transportation Act. The investigation was undertaken in the context of relevant applications of Uber Canada Inc. and Facedrive Inc.
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia authorized a Select Standing Committee on Crown Corporations to examine, inquire into, and make recommendations on regulations regarding Transportation Network Services (TNS) in British Columbia. This report made 11 recommendations on four areas of regulation for TNS in B.C.

This report provides recommendations to modernize the taxi industries regulation regime in British Columbia, to allow the industry to remain viable if Transportation Network Companies were introduced. The recommendations were based on consultations with the taxi industry, local governments, and consumer and business interest groups.
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia authorized a Select Standing Committee on Crown Corporations to examine, inquire into and make recommendations on regulations regarding transportation network services in British Columbia. This report made 32 recommendations on two main areas: Community impact and the Regulatory Regime. Input and suggestions were collected from expert witnesses from various sectors and interests.
This report was conducted as an update to a similar 2012 report to better understand accessibility issues related to wheelchair accessible taxis and inter-city buses. It includes recommendations on areas of further improvement in this sphere.
